Australian Light Horse Memorial

Australian Light Horse Memorial Park and Information Centre, Seymour, Victoria

Nestled amongst native Australian bushland, the Australian Light Horse Memorial Park in Seymour, Regional Victoria, dedicates itself to those who fought in the Australian Light Horse in Beersheba, 31st October 1917. The information centre reconstructs the moments in time when the 'charge' (represented by rows of angled metal posts) bravely proceeded on horseback and under fire towards the town of Beersheba.
The town centre (represented by the granite paving and exposed aggregate concrete) is surrounded by horse-leg sculptures, representing the key moments in time - the charge, the attack on the town and eventual victory. The lightweight shade structures above are reminiscent of the tents that the war camps used to build their settlements from.
