STEMPOWERED: Women In STEM Exhibition a Great Success

As part of Tectura’s ongoing commitment and interest in improving STEM education opportunities across Victoria, Tectura Principal Elizabeth Grigg and Associate Melika Grigg-Baycan were central figures in the conception and realisation of STEMpowered Women in STEM Exhibition. Developed in conjunction with Her Place Women’s Museum, of which Elizabeth Grigg was a former board member, the program, a travelling exhibition moving between each of the 10 Victorian Tech Schools, showcased women’s contributions to STEM fields.



Initially launching in the Tectura designed Banyule Nillumbik Tech School, young students were opportunities chances to hear from 9 leading women within STEM fields such as games development, environmental science, engineering, cancer research, nanotechnology and more, as well as see emerging technologies and ideas in action. A 10th woman was also chosen and profiled by each Tech School as a local hero.


This project highlights Tectura’s ongoing commitment and shared interest in new-age pedagogical typologies, advanced educational models and community outreach.

A valued asset to Melbourne Polytechnic’s refurbished Greensborough Campus is the Melbourne Innovation Centre, an internationally acclaimed business incubator providing expertise, training, programs and networks to help grow sustainable business enterprises, create work opportunities and boost economic development.

At the Greensborough facility there is a collaborative working space for up to 30 people, as well as 24 offices—including some with sliding partitions to form larger areas—a breakout area and a mixture of small-to-medium-sized meeting rooms.

​

The success of the Melbourne Innovation Centre is contingent upon the cross-pollination of ideas. Tectura’s design supports this by providing a plethora of flexible work spaces to choose from to nurture spontaneous discussion and idea generation.
